About The New England Patriots
The New England Patriots are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history. The team plays in the AFC East Division. The team played its first season as the Boston Patriots in 1960. The team played at Nickerson Field from 1960-62, Fenway Park from 1963-68, Alumni Stadium in 1969 and Harvard Stadium in 1970. It had its greatest success of this period in 1963 as the Patriots advanced to the AFL championship game that season.
In 1971, the Boston Patriots moved 22 miles away to Foxborough, Mass., joined the NFL and became the New England Patriots. New England had its greatest NFL successes of the 20th century in 1985 and 1996 as the Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl in each of those seasons.
