Steven Morrissey was born on May 22, 1959 in Lancashire, England. He is currently 53 years old. Even as a young child, Morrissey loved music. His teen years were characterized by a love for pop singers and pop culture. He even wrote letters to the biggest music magazines of that day giving his opinions about specific artists.

Morrissey became an early fan of punk rock. He became the lead singer of the band The Nosebleeds, and he began to write some of the group's songs. After The Nosebleeds broke up, Morrissey joined the band Slaughter and the Dogs for a brief time period. He would go on to leave the group and temporarily focus on his writing career.

Morrissey's big break came in 1982 when he teamed up with guitar player Johnny Marr to write songs. The duo would eventually add drummer Mike Joyce and bass player Andy Rourke to become The Smiths. Read More
